Paul Edwards - About

I create abstract screen prints that are dynamic, colourful, fluid and vibrant. Music guides the structure of my work in terms of rhythm, texture and harmony. My work contains gestural marks, echoes of contours of land and sea. I am also influenced by images of the micro world and the expansiveness of the universe.
I construct my prints using paper and photo stencils, building up opaque and transparent bands of colour, sometimes scraping and washing the surface to reveal concealed layers. I enjoy the crispness of edge and line, smooth flowing lyrical curves and the intensity of primary and complementary colours. These images are captured moments of larger worlds that extend beyond the boundaries of the picture plane
